Uncle Hugo the Gayblade

Uncle Hugo "the Gayblade" a nearly forgotten hero.

Today we remember the man, a man known as much for his prowess as a pretzel maker as he was for the writing and telling of knock-knock jokes.

He contributed so much to the culture of the late nineteenth century. Yet his name is often uncredited in so many of today's cheap paperback books filled with page after page of funny answering machine messages inspired by his fine jokery of old.
