stop motion animation
Here are the early works of the great filmmakers of tomorrow. Unfortunately the filmmakers of today don't take very good notes so I can't tell you their names.
This is a collection of short animations that the students made while I was a counselor for CyberCamps at the University of Washington (summer 2005).
I'd like to take this opportunity to discuss violence in film today. Specifically as the youth is concerned. As you might note there is a tremendous amount of violence depicted in the various clips displayed here. I promise you dear reader, I did my best to preach character development and story. I tried to help them see that the depiction of the human condition could be just as compelling as watching a dude get devoured by various many toothed things. But, well, my message didn't take. That collection is representative of many different groupings of students. They all seemed to be drawn to the gory depiction of the food chain in action. I'm not sure I've ever seen so many things get eaten in such a short period of time.
I tried to offset those images of violence with the beautiful yodeling of Wilf Carter singing High Swiss Yodel. The kids, they love the yodeling. Just kidding. They really really hated it. Perhaps it was my insistence on playing it over and over again that drove them to such violent thoughts. No, that can't be it.
