This is a composition created from a bunch of plates taken from google maps several years ago. The amazing satellites that google gets its images from just happened to be taking images above Maple Lake during the filming of 'The Lake House.' You can clearly see the set house that was built on the lake specifically for the movie. It only existed for a couple months. Based on the number of production vehicles parked these photos had to be taken during the couple weeks that the production was filming at the lake. If look at the current images of Maple Lake, you can see that the structure has been torn down and replaced by a dock that is open to the public.

Recently came across a set of pictures I took of me cutting my hair. I had been growing my hair for a while specifically to harvest it so that it can be made into a toupee that I will use later on in life when I'm bald. I guess the laser eyebeamicles and glowing trianglatrons are helping me see into the future. Or I'm just having fun jumping onto an aesthetic bandwagon.

This is a camera mount that I built for a small Canon point and shoot that I use to make timelapse videos. The stand is built on top of a kitchen timer so that the camera will pan slowly throughout the timelapse. It isn't a great implementation because it doesn't hold the camera very steady. The timelapse doesn't end up being very fluid. It actually gives it sort of a handheld feel for better or for worse. It also has a tendency to stop because of the way I centered the camera on top of it, it isn't very well balanced. I chose to center the focal point of the lens over the pivot point instead of centering the camera for weight balance. Here are a couple examples of timelapse videos shot using this mount: Happy Dog Gallery Install, Lincoln's Birthday Celebration.
The image above is made up of video stills that I grabbed from footage I was using to test the macro setting on a pocket camcorder. I like this camera mount as an object. Its aesthetic value will probably save it from being torn apart when I construct version two.

This is a comp of video stills taken while exploring the cornfields surrounding Art Farm in Nebraska. I accompanied Judith Hoffman on part of her drive out to Nebraska and then got to stay at Art Farm for a couple days. Judith had a residency there and stayed for a couple months. Before I left we had some time to explore a bit and play. We adorned ourselves with bits that we found in the wood shop on our way out to the field where we were attempting to work out some kind of quick collaborative video sketch. Really the most compelling thing I found from it were these stills. After posting another video still on facebook a friend commented "You and Hugo Ball and Emmy Hennings really need to have a seance or something." That might be right on the money, I often worry that dadaist tendencies are leading me astray.

I love the idea of having a crest, but never seem to be able to complete one that I feel like I can attach to myself in any meaningful way. The process of creating a crest is much more interesting to me. Picking symbolic imagery, it has the potential of being narrative, hopeful. It is almost like a sigil, you pile up ideas all in one spot and can look at it and meditate on the idea, or group that it represents. This one doesn't have much of a concept behind it. Gibberish mostly and pulled straight out of my sketchbook with the exception of the feather texture that I added to the bird. A bird that is apparently one small obstacle away from space travel.

A little digital shine on a symmetrical drawing out of my sketchbook. For the last couple years I've created drawings like this to find focus and relaxation. I find that the concentration involved with creating a roughly mirrored image can help quiet the noise in my brain. Working out very simple aesthetic ideas in a way that is often pleasing to look at and add to. It is good quick preparation to work out for 15 minutes or so before focusing on bigger projects. This particular image was created while I was down in Mexico and the bigger project was simply to relax.
