Skyscraper Frontier
I had a great weekend, I got to see my buddy Brad Pankop's band Skyscraper Frontier play two shows. The first show was a private party at the Can Can to celebrate Christoph's (the owner) birthday. That place is other worldly. It's underneath 1st street in Pike Place market and you can see people walking overhead through the squares of glass in the sidewalk when you sit in the bar. There were a whole bevy of dancers who normally would be dancing cabaret on the stage, but that night was a little different, it was an underwater theme.
The second show I got to see them play was at Mars Bar. Also a great place but in a totally different way. It's cozy and dark in that dive kind of way. It isn't really a dive but it has that sort of out of the way, middle of nowhere feel, especially for being so close to downtown. The room had a decent sound. Everybody there was having a good time. Good turnout for a Sunday night too.
